  • Can I Join Two Studio Videohub’s Together?

    Hi,

    I’m in the process of designing our new machine room and the cabling infrastructure to go with it.

    I started up a design based around a 32 channel patch hub, which is pretty much all we currently need, plus and extra 4 spare slots. I’m planning on sending everything, including the GUI’s over SDI into the suites utilising DVI-to-SDI and back convertors.

    In summary. Is it possible to buy two BMD Studio Videohub’s and connect them so they’re both completely workable?

    Example; ‘Suite 1 on Board 1 takes Deck 1 on Board 2’ whist simultaneously ‘Suite 2 on Board 1 takes Monitor 1 on Board 2’

    Hope that’s sort of clear!

    Alternatively… Is it possible to do the following;

    On Channel 1 is Edit 1 and Monitor 1
    On Channel 2 is Edit 2 and Monitor 2

    Is it possible to do Monitor 2 takes Edit 1*????

    *Possibly by doing Mon 2 takes SDI Out from Channel 1

    Any help would be nice, I’m planning on giving BMD a call early next week for some numbers etc.

    Hi,

    If you are thinking of doubling up the routes, then you’ll really need 4 units to get the full matrix, however, if you’re thinking of sending signals from one router to another rough some creative routing, that’s still possible.

    regards
