    hi there,

    we’re working on a pal sd avid symphony project. can i import a jpg/tif/tga that is larger than 720×576 and the avid not resize it to fit pal resolution. ie can i zoom into it, in avid, without losing picture quality.

    Use the pan and zoom effect. Go ahead and import your pix, resized to Avid resolution. These are for reference only. Lay them in your timeline and apply the pan and zoom effect. Open the effect editor and click on the small box in the upper left hand corner. Navigate to the ORIGINAL files, picking the one that matches your original. I’m not sitting in front of my Avid, but I use ‘display target’. I also apply a gaussian filter as well. It smooths out some of the chunkies.
