    Hi,

If someone could please let me know if this is possible or point me in the right direction I’d appreciate it.

My ultimate goal: Getting HDV video from my Canon Vixia HV30 to stream through my XBOX 360 without having to transcode the video.

I’m not a complete newb; although I am by no means a video expert. I’ve been able to create DVD’s and put it in formats for viewing on the web, etc. However I have hit a wall.

The problem is that the video is captured using Sony Vegas in .m2t format, and apparently there is no way of changing that. The 360 will not play video in that format.

I can, of course, transcode the video using Sony Vegas into several different formats that the 360 will play. I’ve done this with other video. However my computer isn’t really set up for this with large video and would take a ridiculous amount of time.

What I would like to do is capture the video in a format that the 360 will play automatically. I can change the capture program using Sony Vegas, but I don’t know if that will change the format or what application to even start looking at.

If I need to download or purchase something else, that’s fine. I’m just looking for the most direct method right now of being able to do this.

    Thanks,
    Marc

If it’s not important that’s it’s HD, most cameras have the ability to down convert to DV, which is 720 x 480 .avi when capturing from tape to your computer. I would try changing the extention from m2t to mpg and try it again. Hope this helps, Danny Hays
