Can I bring a project from Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 onto 5.0? XML?

I edited a project in the field using a Macbook with Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 and now I want to bring it onto my Imac desktop which has the last version of Final cut 5.0 from a Not For Resale version of Final Cut Studio.
Apple told me when i called up that the Not For Resale version cannot be updated and that there was a way to do this with xml but that they could not help me because I did not have final cut apple care…at this point I am looking for a kind soul to help me out.
I need a way of bringing the project off the macbook (5.1.2) onto the Imac with 5.0.? Someone mentioned something to me about using XML export and import but I have no clue. I want to be able to do this on a larger desktop environment that is my imac. One user was kind enough to suggest the XML option but I am having trouble – does anyone have any further details – if so please reply asap.

Yes you can. Just do an XML export of your project, then import into version 5.0. You might have to manually relink your files, but it will work.
