  • Can I back up and import custom workspaces and keyboards?

Posted by Stu Siegal on December 23, 2012 at 4:38 pm

With FCP, I used Pref Manager to save these items. This way, if I needed to reinstall, they weren’t lost. I could also pop them on a thumb drive and import them on a client’s system when needed.

What’s the equivalent way to do this with PPro in CS6?

    Thanks

    Yes, but not easily.

In Window, keyboard layouts are saved in:
    C:/Users/Your Name/AppData/Roaming/AdobePremiere Pro/6.0

and they have a file extension of kys. I’m sure Mac has an equivalent directory where it stores user info.

In terms of program layout, it’s pretty easy: Create a blank project, customize the GUI as you like it and save.

When you open Premiere, in the drop down that allows you to switch layouts, select “import workspaces from project” and then open your pre-saved project.
