Can I add a dissolve transition to one end of a clip?
Sometimes i want just one clip to dissolve out. I know I can open video components and adjust the opacity. But is there any way i can apply the cross-dissolve to only one end of a clip? i realize at that point it’s not technically a cross-dissolve…but I could do that in FCP 7. can i do that in X? I’ve been playing with it and couldnt. Internet research proved useless too. But maybe someone knows a way….

I’m doing it all the time via the drag and drop method, applying the drop just at one end instead of the middle of the clip… or you can apply to both sides, then go back and delete just the front one or back one by dragging thru only the transition with your cursor.

Yes. Drag a dissolve to the end of the clip. Or highlight the end of the clip and press cmd t. What have you tried so far? It pretty much works exactly like 7.

You can also just select the end of a clip and double click the dissolve effect and it’ll apply only to that end.
