  • Can FCPX ‘duplicate’ projects with referenced events that have synced files? I got an error.

    Hi guys,
I have an existing event and project of FCPX on external hard-drive A. It was running slowly, so I just bought a new faster drive B (WD My Book ii, RAID 0) and want to ‘duplicate project with referenced events’ to the new drive B and work off that. When I tried this, I checked the ‘include render files’. When I now try to connect the new drive B, the event begins to load, long enough to see the project appear with heaps of red squares in place of the pictures with the yellow triangle sign with an exclamation mark on it saying ‘Modified Files’.
The Inspector box says: 279 clips in use. 175 modified files (in yellow).
Then, before it loads completely, it crashes. Repeatedly.
So I can’t even load FCPX on my new drive without it crashing.
I’ve tried to read a few forums and have a hunch it might be something to do with the synced files. I had to sync all my audio and visual files, as they were recorded separately. Does this mean that FCPX cannot ‘duplicate’ synced files? Could this be causing the crash?
Any help would be welcomed as I am tearing my hair out….
    Cheers

First and foremost, how is that WD drive formatted? Did you format with disk utility as an OS Extended drive?
