  • Can an iMovie project import into FCP?

Posted by Bob O’brien on February 3, 2007 at 3:41 pm

I supporse I could set this up and try it myself, but I’m in a hurry for an answer.

A client is doing some initial editing in iMovie. His footage in on a firewire drive. If he sends the project file and drive to me, can I open it in FCP?

    Thanks!

What version of iMovie? What version of FCP? I don’t believe this functionality exists any longer in the current version.

    All the best,

    Tom

Apparently you can do this. Never tried.

From the FCP 5 FAQ on Apples Website.

“Will projects created in older versions of Final Cut Pro work in Final Cut Pro 5?
Yes. Existing projects created in iMovie, Final Cut Express, or any version of Final Cut Pro will work in Final Cut Pro 5.”
