  • Can a Panasonic AG-HPX170P shoot onto an SD card?

The AG-HPX170P has two P2 slots and one SD slot above it. The manual is kind of ambiguous in its language about whether you can actually shoot onto an SD card, or merely save camera setting presets onto it. But I can’t seem to get it to do so, nor do I see any obvious menu settings for allowing it.

Anyone know yay or nay off-hand? I apologize in advance if this is a redundant post. I tried to search for previous posts on this question, however the ‘SD’ makes for a very ambiguous search, returning a ton of results that are unrelated.

You may be confused on the SD card slot with the Micro P2 media. SD card slot is designed for saving scene files, importing P2 metadata than recording on it and updating firmware to the camera. You can use SDHC media on the HPX-170 via the Micro P2 adaptor but at a lower bit rate than the genuine Micro P2. I don’t think you can record video directly to SD card slot in the HPX-170 but only on the P2 slots via the Micro P2 adaptor (AJ-P2AD1G).
