  • Can a mask be used to fade to tranparent?

I’m using the chroma key effect to remove background from the person in my video. Unfortunately, I cut this person off at the knees so when I insert them infront of my beautiful field of grass, the hard edge gives the effect away. I’d like to soften the hard edge at their knees by a gradual fade to transparent.

I’ve used gradient masks before but it seems I can only either have the image, black or somewhere in between. Is it possible to have the image, transparent and everything in between?

You can use the Mask in Pan/Crop to create a feathered edge at the bottom of the video. You can also add the Border FX with Soft Edge preset, or you can use a piece of black and white Gradient Generated Media on a track above and change the Track Composite Mode to Multiply (Mask). Any of those three should work.

Figured it was something easy. Thanks.
