Camtasia AVI is shortened
I have the folks at Techsmith, makers of the Camtasia screen capture software trying to figure this out, but I thought I’d throw it out for you guys to ponder. I created a one hour 27 minute screen capture. Exported it to an AVI. The rsulting file plays beautifully in Windows Media Player. But when I bring it into Premiere Pro CS5, only 1 minute 8 seconds play. It’s as if the rest isn’t even there. I’ve rebooted, re-imported, etc. I sent the entire 613 meg AVI file to Techsmith, and they inform me the same thing happend to them–just 1:08 plays and then nothing.
Any thoughts why Premiere is only seeing this tiny portion? Let me add that it’s not like the other hour and 26 minutes is black–Premiere thinks the file is only 1:08.

Can you export it to a Lagarith avi.
That is what i do. -
I exported to an uncompressed AVI–let it render overnight–but the resulting file was 107 gigabytes. Yeah, GIGAbytes. I promptly deleted it. If Lagarith is uncompressed, I’m afraid it too will result in an unwieldy file. Worth a try. Thanks for the suggestion. I found a link for it and will try it.
Still, I wonder why Premiere is only seeing a tiny bit of the AVI I fed it.
