Yesterday myself and friend of mine tested HD and SD cameras on CRT JVC HD monitor and LCD Monitor.

    Cameras tested:Sonyf330,Panasonic HPX-502,Panasonic 910,Sony Z1 and Pana HVX-202.

On CRT HD monitor the best picture had 7 year old Panasonic 910-it was full of life and was sharp.
It was followed by Sony f330,Pana502,Pana202 and Z1.
On CRT monitor pictures from HD cameral are not as sharp as pictures from broadcast SD camera and they do not look natural.

On LCD Monitor it all looks ok… even Z1.
Best colours come from Panasonic cameras.

Conclusion: No wonder clients do not mind Z1,because most of them watch it on cheap LCD/Plasma panels.

The downconverted outputs of the HD cameras do not have edge enhancement added like the output of an SD camera.

That is, the HD cameras do indeed have edge enhancement, but the edge enhancement is tuned for viewing on an HD monitor. When viewed downconverted, the edge enhancement is too fine and gets lost.
