Here’s what I’m trying to do. I have a clip of a car rolling past me as I pan with it. My panning isn’t too bad, the car stays fairly centered. What I want is to have, say the door handle, stay in the very center of the frame all the time. I’ve been doing this manually by creating keyframes in the pan and crop window and adjusting the size and location of the clip to keep my door handle centered.

Is there a “automatic” way to do this? I was thinking something along the lines of one of the motion trackers in BCC 8, but not sure on how to implement that. I read in a previous thread about using the parent/child composite relationship to control movements along the X and Y axis separately. How can I get an event to follow the track made by the motion tracker? Anyone have a thought?

Doing this by keyframes is tedious and not gonna seal
that steady look, so a motion tracking tool is best.
Boris CC has it, so you can follow a few tutorials on
how to get smooth tracking shots.
For me i prefer to use Mocha, easy, strait-forward and
    perfect tracks.

I would use a stabilizer plug-in set to “tripod” mode (or lock position or whatever your stabilizer plug-in calls it). That should keep the door handle in one place.

The Sony plug-in is based on proDAD Mercalli. While it is very good, it’s based on an older version and the full version of Mercalli V2 which is what I use. So if you want better stabilization, get the full version of Mercalli V2. (I think V3 is stand alone only and not a plug-in)
