  • Camera Animation…Gimbal Lock issue?

I am animating a camera using align to spline, a spline with uniform interpolation so the animation stays constant, a target tag on the camera connected to a Null object with an align to spline tag shifted about 10 or so frames behind so the cam looks ahead to it.

Now I’ve done this method several times before but never has this happened. The camera when it moves to go straight up flips back and forth 180 degrees on its axis. I’ve done some testing and it seems to do it when it goes vertically but not when it is traveling horizontally.
I’ve also tried using rail splines, but no luck.

Another person mentioned the issue to be gimbal lock and quite a common issue. Any one know a good work around?

I’ve tried the Two Targets plugin but it doesn’y seem to work for Cinema 4D version 10.5.

    Thanks,

    Chris

The rail spline should prevent this. How are you generating the rail?
