C300 and C500 Get Push To Focus With Firmware Update

In October Canon will have a free firmware update that adds push to focus and a few other features. This is a big deal to me because I liked that feature on the C100 a lot.
Also added Shifting Display Location during Magnified Focus Assist. I can see this as being very handy.
1,440 x 1,080 pixel recording mode at 35Mbps. A little smaller file but maintaining a high level of image quality. Similar to AVCIntra 50

Nice.
The push-to-focus feature won’t help me, because I shoot the PL version of the C300 and manual focus only… but the “Shifting Display Location” during magnification will be SUPER helpful. I will use that literally every day… in fact I’ve been wishing I could do that all along, but had no idea it was on the horizon.

Shifting the magnification display location is a BIG deal. I needed that yesterday with on-camera lines. Had to slip focus from one person to another that was a few feet behind the first talent shooting at f1.8. I actually tried a couple takes using magnification with the talent in the corner. Worked but sure felt weird.
