  • C100 footage Clip names not matching in Premiere pro and SD Card

    Hi,

So my media is offline in my timeline… and its a massive one.

Ive had lots of issues along the way but right now here is what is happening-

I’m trying to get the clips back online in the usual way. BUT- The names that Premiere calls them are not the names that they are called in the actual file on the SD card… for example-

Premiere is trying to locate a clip called- 20130517165025.mts

When I go and find it (i have had to reimport the media as the drive needed to be reformatted) te clip names I get from the original SD card are a lot more simply named such as 00010.MTS.

I fear I am in ‘start again’ territory now… which is not cool as its a 46 min timeline…

Im working off a back up copy.

I have other issues such as other files easily findable with matching names but PP says the audio is different so it cant import the file… I think I’m in alot of trouble here…

    Any suggestions?

    Many thanks
    Dale

    An update-

I think I originally imported the clips via the Data Import Utility which gives the clips those massive numbers so right now I am reimporting them thru that software.. Its gonna save me a lot of work I hope!

The other ‘findable’ files are Go Pro shots and in the edit are used in a Multi Cam sequence which is referencing the C100 Camera for audio which is why there could be a problem there… Not sure what I can do about this problem outside of manually importing the clips in and manually editing it back into the multcam sequence…

Its all theory right now but thought I would post as I’m thinking about it all…

Yeah, that’s the naming that the Canon Data Import Utility assigns the imported clip, which is different than how it’s stored on the card. That long number actually means something:
    20130517165025
    or
2013/05/17 16:50:25 – So you shot that clip @ 4:50:25 pm on May 17th, 2013. It’s actually a much better name system than AVCHD starts with and gives all the clips unique naming.
