  • Buying secondhand software?

    Hi all,

I know this is something I should ask vendors direct, which I will..but in the meantime I just wanted to gauge people’s experiences with this?

I am in the position to buy some software from work (Adobe Production Studio, Trapcode/Knoll plugs & Windows XP) does anyone know if any of this is a problem from a legal standpoint? And does it cost any extra to switch licences over? I mean the adobe stuff is registered in my name currently, but under the company’s umbrella..

    Any thoughts welcomed.

i believe there is a pdf form that you can download, fill-in and fax/mail to adobe. i think there is something else about obtaining a case number first… but i don’t think it costs any money.

    search adobe for ‘license transfer’..

Before you install on your personal PC, make sure that you deauthorize any machines at work that used that SN.

Then you will be able to install and register to your machine. If you attempt to install without deauthorizing the prior machine, you will get an error stating that you have reached your maximum installations for that SN.

There will be a phone option on that error page and you can just call the phone number and they will be able to deauthorize the other computer and make yours legit.

    Good luck.
