Bus Speeds / Ram Speed and Mac Book Pro’s
I have ordered an early (non unibody) 2008 MBP 2.5 with 512 Nvidia card to run FCP Studio 2. Mainly to be used for compressed HD editing and Short trailers using Motion 3.
How does this machine compare to a unibody 2009 2.4 Ghz machine? The bus speed is slower on the 2008 2.5 (800Mhz Vs 1067) and the ram is slower too.
But in reality am I just splitting hairs?! The 512 card on the 2008 model really seems to speed up Motion 3 renders but will slower bus speeds hinder framerates for HD playback?

I am using the Sam Mac Book Pro you are looking at. I have the 2.5 with 4 gig of ram and I use it to edit in the field as well as in my office. I think you will find that as long as you have adiquit (sp) storage you will be okKent Stipp
