Burn Large .avi files to one / many dvd’s! Experts wanted!

he’s using the trial version, so he won’t be able to render to mpeg2…..

you’ll need to shell out the cash and buy something that can do it, or use Super to convert to mpeg2 as has been suggested (NOT the AVI converter thing. No need to pay for that)

if using vegas, your bitrate for a mpeg2 shouldn’t exceed 8mbs – otherwise it won’t work on some players etc.

average for a 1 hour / 13GB file is prob going to be around 6mbs or so.

John, you’re a straight shooting type of guy and your langauge is crystal clear–thanks for the suggestion. i believe i can figure it out from here.

For all of those out there that have an .avi file directly transferred from old 8mm tapes, here is all you have to do. Go into DVD architect, insert that file, (make sure that you have sound as well)…edit your title and rt click on the actual file and insert chapters, then use the fit to disc option, and burn that bad boy. i burned a 26 gig file on one dvd yesterday and i tried it this morning and it worked. I can help. First render your raw video files in sony vegas as .avi container files…do not check anything that would make the avi actually be an A/V interleave. You need to check the create an Ultra DMA file and nothing else….choose your frame rate as your source, choose the frame resolution as you wish, make sure you have the aspect ration 1.0 square pixels….also, go to before you click on render as, go to your preferences and set your RAM to 0 but keep the threads 4.

1. Render as uncompressed AVI
2. check the make Ultra dma compatible file box.
3. uncheck anything that has to do with interleaving, such as key frames or alpha whatchamacallit, also make sure it is set to progressive not lower or upper field.
4. check the render at best and 32bit
5. make sure audio file is set to uncompressed pcm(wav) 16kbs and 44 to 48k .
6. when you have all of your settings proper, save your rendering properties so the next time you don’t have to deal with this.
7. Get back to the save as box, you should see untitled.avi and uncompressed avi as the setting.
8. Change your file name to whatever and change the save to place if you want.
9. Check the little settings box that it says uncompressed and elementary stream…then click save….

It should take a while to render and if you need a lot of HDD space depending on your file size and resolution, etc. We are talking over 100GB files. remember they are RAW. So, just leave your computer to go to work. If you need the computer set Vegas to low in the task manager.

AFTER RENDER, Import the new file. Now, use the Media Concept Codec to render your huge AVI to an MP4. Make sure your RAM is set to zero in the properties. Set it considerably lower and key frames are okay,
pray and click save….you should get a file about 1/10th the size and with not much quality loss. You can now format it for DVD.

Hi i found that freemake video converter is A 1, to do lots of files or music & dvds it converts and burns about 5 movies all at once in very good quality and its free just Goggle it and download it i bet you will never use another converter, it can do all sorts of conversion and its quite fast , all you do is just put in a blank dvd in to you drive, then add your movie file on to it and down below you see a dvd icon click on it and off it goes, converts and burns brill i have done series of Gladiator 6 at a time and it does them all no problems, to day i put on a 16gb motorbike race blue ray and it burn it to a 4.7 gb dvd no problems , and i am 70 years old i use to use convertxtodvd but this is away better, at the start i bought blue-ray dvds but this we program kick out the blue ray dvds and it was saying put in a proper dvd 4.7gb i did and it converted a 25gb on the the disc lol saving me a lot of money on blue-ray dvds it all so converts
3d movies and burns them to a 4.7gb no problems ok m8 then theirs dvd fab another great converter and a copy tool,so have a go and i hope this helps every one ok
