Burn dvd with video + data
Hello again,
I would like to burn a DVD disk with a Vegas-rendered video (NTSC MPG2) but also add data (the photos, video clips, & music) that I used to create the video.
The desired result is that the DVD disk will play the video on most DVD players, and the data will be accessible on most (Windows) PCs.
(Assuming there is adequate space on the disk, of course.)
I have access to Nero, and DVD Architect.

Recent versions of DVDA have a feature called “Extras” that creates a new folder that you can put anything you want into.
I was doing this even before it had that feature.
Just make sure to add the folder to the root of the DVD, allow enough room for the material in it, and you’re good to go. -

The DVDA properties shows an “Extras” but no guidance what to do next.
?? Go ahead and burn the DVD, then put it back in the PC, and ???
(It is not very intuitive – at least, not for my peabrain.)

I’ve done this a few times and, as I said, this step is not mandatory as all you need to know is the location of your Extras folder.
I “prepare” my DVD as normal but do not burn from DVDA.
I use IMGBurn for all my DVD creation these days.
I launch it, add the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders from the “Prepare” folder, add the Extras folder and then burn my DVD.
I will stress again that you must make sure that you have enough room for the Extras folder so make sure to do your math 🙂
I hope this makes sense.From the DVDA online help menu:
1. Collect your multimedia files in a folder on your computer. If you want to place the content in a subfolder at the root of the disc, create a subfolder within your specified extras folder:
For example, if you specify c:mediaMy_DVD_Project as your extras folder in step 4 below, all files and folders within c:mediaMy_DVD_Project will be written to the root of the disc.
For example, if you specify c:mediaMy_DVD_Project as your extras folder in step 4 below, placing the files (and folders) you want to burn in a c:mediaMy_DVD_ProjectExtras subfolder on your computer would cause the Extras folder and its contents to be written to the root of the disc.
2. From the DVD Architect Pro File menu, choose Properties. The Project Properties dialog is displayed.
3. Select the Properties tab, and click the Disc Properties button at the top of the tab.
4. Select the Extras folder box, and then click the Browse button . The Browse for Folder dialog is displayed.
5. Select the folder where your multimedia files are saved, and then click OK.

(The missing part was to pre-collect all the data into a single folder in the PC’s hard disk.)
