Bump Map Help
Hi,
My Alzheimer’s must be kicking in, because i’ve accomplished this effect before, but anyway. I’m trying to get a text ripple effect, with a water ripple video clip I have, using the Bump Map, but am doing something wrong. Can anyone help?

Hi Carson,
Actually the Bump Map is your problem. You want to use a Height Map to make the text conform to the height of the waves. You need three tracks to do this. The first (top) track is the height map material. In your case it would be the water. The second (middle) track is the Text and the third (bottom) track is the water again. Change the composite mode of the top track to Custom… Height Map. Change the text track to be a Compositing Child of the top track and ten just adjust the amount of amplitude with the Height Map FX.
Your timeline should look something like this:
