    Hi,

I have a G4/dual 1ghz/1.5 ram/superdrive and the computer no longer recognized the DVD drive. This happened after I put in a disc for my printer to install drivers. I couldn’t get the disc to eject after installation (it wasn’t reading on the desktop) trying everything I could think of get it it and so I shut it down and used the paper-clip in the tiny hole trick to get the disc out.

Now the eject button on the keyboard does nothing, if I put a disc in the tray after forcing it open and push the tray back in, nothing happens. When I check the System Profiler, the “disc burning” tab says: “no burning device was found.” Also, the DVD Player won’t open and gives me an initialization error (valid DVD drive cannot be found).

I do have an external burner as well, but I have had problems installing software from it.

Any advice on how to get my drive back?

    Thanks in advance,

    Steve
