    Hello all!

I need some help. Desperately. I’m trying to media manage a two hour film and media manager keeps stalling. I managed to get just the audio over to the new drive, but the video kept stalling at 87%. I saw an old old post on here that suggested it might be all the layers so I consolidated from 6 layers to 3. Now it won’t go past 10%!!! What’s going on? I’ve got nearly everything as packed down as it will go.

If I only select half the video, it goes up to 98% and then stalls. I have a feeling there’s something in there that it doesn’t like but I can’t figure out what it is. I’ve removed all my embedded multiclip sequences, and I’ve exported and brought back in all the more complex layered shots to keep the layers down.

I’m running a two month old 17″ MBP with the Hi-Res screen at 2.6 GhZ with 4 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT with 512 MB of VRAM. This shouldn’t be an issue.

If any one has any experience with this or has any information that could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

I know this is way late but I wanted to put some kind of an answer here. I had this problem and found this and another older post, which encouraged me to give the process some time.

My two hour project with dozens of effects and renders and transitions took about 35 minutes to build the list, but it did happen. It was seemingly stalled at 8% for the first 10 minutes or so, then it took off.

I fired up SMC Fan Control to keep the machine cooler while it was working. It does seem to be slower if you are sitting there watching it….
