    building a PC for Avid Xpress Pro?

    Hi!

    I’m thinking about building from scratch a PC suitable for Avid Xpress Pro. I know this might not be recomended as Avid Software can be very sensible on hardware compability. I still though wondered if anyone know what kind of hardware would work best with Avid?

    I’m thinking about issues like type of CPU, type of CHIPSET, type of RAM, type of HDD, type of Graphic Card etc.

    I’m at the moment using WindowsXP and Avid Xpress Pro HD 5.0 on a DELL Latitude C840 Laptop which works OK, but far from good.

    Any thoughts?

    well, you could look at the exact specs for a HP xw8200, which works perfectly for this application, and just copy it. That would work just fine and dandy. And when you are all done, what will you save – $1000 ? Couldn’t you just go on ebay and find a used xw8200 or refurbished unit for this “reduced” price anyway ?
