I’m using win 7 64 bit with latest version of vegas.

I like to use sony avc format as mp4 files. If I import a pre rendered mp4 clip into my project, and then add some jpg images to create a slideshow, vegas pro fails. The images appear as red thumbnails on the timeline, and when you render there is black space instead of the photos. If you start the project again and use just jpgs they render fine.

The problem is that vegas does not work if you have mp4 clips and jpgs. This is a devastating bug, and has ruined a bunch of my projects. Would someone care to confirm it please, and tell me how to report it properly. Thanks

There’s no need to report this as it’s a know bug.

Here’s the official response from Sony:

This is a known issue that occurs when combining AVCHD and certain still images on the timeline, and we’re working to correct it. We apologize for the inconvenience.

    In the meantime, workarounds include:
-Rendering still images to a video format (such as AVI)
-Rendering AVCHD footage to an intermediate format (such as AVI)
    -Working in 9.0b
