I had to use BTVpro to capture from some off-speed tapes with 32k audio. FCP was choking on them. Anyway, it all went well, and in my browser all look like the right settings, I was real careful in settiping up the capture, but in my DV timeline, for which I used an easy setup, all the clips need rendering. I guess it’s not such a big deal because I have to color correct them anyway, but I just wonder what’s up with these clips?

What is BTVpro? It sounds like it’s not putting your media into a standard dv file.

It’s a capture app, quite handy and versatile. Does great time lapse capture in addition to everything else.

Did a capture a .dv file instead of a .mov? FCP does not like .dv files. Also, what kind of dv deck do you have? can you hook it up to a capture device so that FCP will like the signal coming form your deck’s outputs?

It made a Quicktime file. All it’s specs in the browser were correct. But, in the end I found it lost sync about halfway through anyway, so it’s junk.Turns out it couldn’t capture from an LP tape any better than FCP can. So, I ended up just recording DVDs from the tapes via Firewire from a camcorder direct. Worked great. Only thing the client doesn’t get is a bit of color correction they wanted, but they can live without that.

I would have dubbed the tapes to get them to SP and 48K, but didn’t have the time or the budget to do that.

BTW my deck is a DSR 11. It does not like LP tapes.
