brush effect without linear wipe
I’ve got a problem with coming up with a suitable solution for animating brush strokes.
There is a ton of tutorials on how to do it, but they just us a brush stroke image and than apply linear wipe or animate a mask.. But that just look terrible.

See that hard edge at the start of the stroke? Even if feather is used, that is still gonna look pretty bad.
I am looking for a way to create an actual animation of a stroke. Some say it can be done with particles, but heck, that is gonna take crazy amount of time.

You can use masks to animate the stroke. add variety to the shape of the mask to add fluidity. or luma/alpha mattes of things like mr mercury or simple chokers in reverse
