Gonar, I’m sorry, but I can’t help you with this. All my tapes are single archives. I lay out my folders for archiving so that they’ll be around 700 GB. And if a project is more, I just make two archives on two tapes. I’ve never done any tape spanning. I don’t use the incremental or differential functions either. I like to keep it simple.

You can get more help by joining the BRU PE mail list. This is a user-guided list. But, Tolis employees also will monitor and pitch in from time to time.

General information about the mailing list is at:

    Hey Gonar,

I’m currently in a similar situation and I was wondering if you ever found a solution to your multi-tape archive issue.

Any insight you might have would be helpful.

    Thanks.

    Graham,

Sorry it tooks me a long time to respond.

I get the software called Bru Import Tool from the Bru Support, it seems like its the newest version, and I can restore all of my catalog. no matter how much your archive is, for example I got 23 archive in 23 continius tape. I can restore the catalog without having any problem whatsoever.

    Hope this help

    GG

    Hi Guys,

After a quick and very helpful email conversation with Jim over the long weekend, I reopened a ticket with the Tolis folks regarding the Tape Import Tool. They were, infact, very helpful. The latest version of the tool, 2.2.1.37 works like a charm recovering multiple archives over multiple tapes. As one of the users who experienced problems with my catalogs during the upgrade process, this tool was very useful to me.

I have submitted a feature request to them asking that it be made more accessible to BRU users – included in the BRU install or even built into the application. If this seems like it would be useful to you, I would recommend you do the same:

For those of you in need of the application, contacting tech support is currently the only way to get it. They have been very helpful.

The folks at Tolis responded to my feature request regarding the tape import tool. It looks like it will be included in the upcoming 2.3 release.

Does anyone still have the link for the tape import tool?
