This may not be the best forum to post this, but I like the forward thinking of my fellow FCPX devotees.

I’m looking for an affordable monitor for quality control. We need some consistency across our 4 edit suites. Our old Sony PVM crt hd monitors that we purchased in 2003 are well past their prime. Our system has SDI 29.97 1080i output.

Do you need to spend thousands of dollars these days? Or can you get something for $1200-1500 that will do the job?

You want a decent broadcast monitor. Look at TV Logic or Flanders Scientific to see if there’s something in your price range.

    Thanks Oliver and Noah,

I’m afraid the Flanders and TV Logic will be out of our price range.

The Eizo could be more within our price range, about $1500, unless I have a good argument why we should spend more.

We shoot 1080i, so the 4k is unnecessary. Do you have experience with the Eizo Noah?

Yep very solid FCPX monitor and they are very cool folks to boot. If you want me to put you in touch with their sales peeps drop me a line via my sig. I’m guessing they could cut you a good package deal.

Does the Eizo take a 1080i feed via SDI or is HDMI connection the only option?

Mark – you might also look at the BMD 17″ monitors, although I haven’t checked cost. I have no experience with them. I’d also suggest the Panasonic broadcast line if there’s something in there for the right price.
