    Hi,

In my company we have many edit suites of FCP with kona LH.
    we usually face problem.
my self didn’t face with the blackmagic..

when we import any QT file (for example) H.264.
then insert it in sequence of aja HD uncompressed.
it gives red bar for render!
when we render it and play it back!
it doesn’t play on broadcast monitor!

So i import this H264 (for example)into new sequence.
then i click OK for the dialogue to make the sequence same acid of the file..
    then hit play!
    no play on broadcast monitor!

so i found solution for it that i open the clip in QT player then RExport it to QT apple prores or any aja codec file..then it plays fine on the broadcast monitor..

i see this is crazy especially if long time file…

this problem happen in all FCP suites we have(4 suites)
for any QT i put on the timeline created by codec different than prores or aja..
    (animation,none,h264,pal….)

in the blackmagic it was not happen!
    so where is the problem??

    best regards

FCP does not support rt playback of codecs that aren’t supported by the suite, such as h264. h264 is a web delivery codec, not an editing codec. You need to conform all video to something that is enabled in FCPs rt engine.

    Jeremy,
    thank you for your reply!

but i guess you didn’t read all of my post..

same problem happen when i add animation codec or any other codec than prores or aja acids..

    i gave H264 as sample..
and FYI any codec you add on sequence it should render to the codec of the sequence and play on the broadcast monitor..

in my case it renders..but no way to play on broadcast monitor.

Animation is not an editing codec either.

Animation isn’t a real time capable codec either. You need ot place the movie in a timeloine that has a standrd video codec, render and then you should have rt playback. If oyu son’t, that’s becuase your timeline and video output aren’t matching.

    Hi,

    thanks for your reply..
    i do know this..

BUT with my experience with Blackmagic when i add animation codec movie on timeline with native codec of the video card..
it gives me red bar (which mean your say)..but when i render this it goes real time!

because i need animation codec on timeline line for alpha..

that doesn’t happen in the aja..

hope you could get what i mean!!

[ayman abdel-basset] “but when i render this it goes real time! “

RIght, so the proper way to do this is to select the proper easy setup from the easy setup menu (control-q).

    Then make a new sequence.

Then drag one of your files to the sequence and when it asks if you want to change the sequence to confrom to the clip, you say NO.

Then you render, then you playout in rt.

It’s pretty easy, Ayman. What format are you working in?
