  • Bringing XDCAM HD footage into Final Cut Pro?

Posted by Nigel Cooper on October 8, 2006 at 1:23 pm

What is the best way (easiest/standard) to bring XDCAM HD footage into FCP. Do drag/drop files first or use log/capture window?

Never done this before, first time and I’m used to a tape workflow.

Using FCP 5.1 and above import files into FCP. It’s twice realtime! A one minute clip takes 30 seconds. It’s GREAT!

With the XDCAM HD, can you transfer footage directly from the camera deck? Via firewire?
Any thoughts on the 330 model?

Yes we have been using our 330 for transfering files via firewire.

You have to use the Sony Transfer software PDZK-P1 XDCAM Transfer
    Software Download (for Apple
Final Cut Pro 5.1.1 or higher)

The BIGGER question What about Media Management for FCP using XDCAM. There is no way to auto import the clips into FCP once the clips have been trashed from the XDcam disc.
