Since rerendering AVI with DV codec looses quality.. what do you guys recommend for bringing clips into After Effects then exporting them out to insert in your editing software?

I’ve found that bringing in clips other than AVI into After Effects LAGS it down to an unusable level. I have a gig of ram but am upgrading so hopefully that will help.

Also I’ve found exporting video clips is EXTREMELY slow.
One thing I am trying is the Andrew Kramer frame rate converter and I am having no luck getting the video out of After Effects to edit in my editing software.

BTW I am using After Effects Pro 7.0

“Quicktime Animation” is one of the better codecs to work with. It’s a lossless codec, which means no/minuscule loss of quality from subsequent renders. It’s not really suitable to use for your final output render, which would depend on your intended use for the finished product.
