    Hi everyone

Been using an IO now on my dual G4 setup with FCP HD for over two years now with no problems. However, just recently I’ve been getting a really bright image from the IO using composite output. I usually use the composite to preview the edit on my JVC production monitor, capturing via SDI and leaving the S-Video for the odd occasion when I need to record off DVD straight into the sytem.

Ouputs via SDi (via the deck) are fine… as is S-Video which I’ve hooked up to the monitor for preview. However, whenever I switch to composite all the whites are blown out and the picture looks awful.

    Any ideas?

I have switched monitors and upgraded the firmware and the latest IO driver software but it doesn’t seem to have made any difference.

    Thanks in advance

    Chris

Dont know if this would help but go into the Io control panel and check to see what the composite black level is set to. There are two choices, switch it and see if that works.

your monitor has become unterminated. Someone threw the 75 ohm term switch, or someone plugged in a composite cable looping off the back of the monitor to go to another product, and now that product is not in the system, unterminating your line.

Simply take a BNC cable, go from the looping input of your monitor, into the input of ANY video product (they all terminate in 75 ohms), and your problem will be gone. Once you prove this to yourself, you can either use a 75 ohm terminator, or find the actual problem.
