Brighten a dark clip
Hi folks, I’m using Prem Pro 5.5 with Blackmagic DL HD extreme 3D to capture old Pal VHS. An early tape with mal-adjusted brightness is very dark, (too small a camera aperture)& I need to lighten it. Captured as uncomp 10 bit YUV. Not a capture settings issue, but a ‘repair’ job on a stuff up, before rendering to MPEG2.
I’ve looked for adjustment in PrPro & in forums, & found no useful keys, or query/answers to follow. Don’t really want to re-capture with new settings, as already edited, & not using batch capture.basicam

There are several CC tools in Premiere to do that for you.

If Premiere Pro’s built in effects aren’t giving you an acceptable result, try Magic Bullet’s Colorista Free.

It’s a free 3-way color corrector (you just don’t have the goodies like a second 3-way correction set, keyframed masks, etc. that the paid version does).
Short of a dedicated hardware color corrector, Colorista is my favorite software plugin for video color work.
