    Hi Everybody,

a friend of mine edited a music video on AVID and asked me to do some corrections and gradings.
I want to import the the file into FCP – but I DO NOT have Automatic Duck – unfortunately 🙁
So, my usual procedure in this case is to import the whole edited clip, rendered out from AVID – put it back on my FCP timeline and then chop it up again in individual clips, which I can then work on with Magic Bullet or in COLOR.
Is there any other less complicate way – without involving the Duck or this is as good as it gets?

Thanx for any thoughts on that.

    Greetings,

    Sascha

Not really, AVID can’t export XML files, ate least not the version of AVID they worked on.
I would get it as a MOV Quicktime File – either in DV-Pal compression or uncompressed.

If you lack the Duck that allows FCP to access the cut with transitions and individual media, then the only other alternative is to export a QT, import that into FCP (Make sure you have the Avid codecs installed), chop chop chop, and then grade.

I thought so – just hoped for a miracle.
The Duck would be awesome, but is not in the budget at the moment.
    Thanx Shane!

There is a very laborious way to go from avid to after effects which I think would work with fcp too. Check out https://www.wesplate.com/helpful/avid_to_ae/index.html
