    I’ve done this before.

I have 142 clips – all in sequential time code. I get a script from my producer and instead of looking for the clip with the timecode, I have a compound clip with all of my footage, that matches the timecode of the nested clips.

Now I select my compound clip, punch in the timecodes, drop the compounds into the timeline. When I’m done with my first assembly, I break apart the compound clips to leave the original clips.

This saves me quite a bit of time. UNLESS I can’t break apart the clips.

I can’t understand why it would be greyed out?

I tried making the compound in the browser. I tried making the compound in the timeline.

Any one have any clues about why the Break Apart Clips would be greyed out?

    Thx.
