Boris TV Intro to Sony Vegas Tutorials (Dust Effect)
I am working on an intro to a trip we took to Italy. I was wanting to create the effect that John has on the Boris TV videos which is the text slamming down and dust coming up. Can this be done in Vegas Pro or do I have to use After Effects with a particle system or similar?
My thoughts would be to try to create the dust layer using the Plasma genterator and then masking the text on top of the dust and keyframing the dust to move and disappear. By masking out the text I hope to create the appearance the dust is being pushed out from under the text.

I used the stand-alone version particleIllusion to do that. I think the particles were some of the smoke that comes in the default library. If you don’t have particleIllusion I highly recommend adding it to your bag of tricks. It comes in very handy some times.
