Boris Continuum Complete 4 Filters, issues with Intel
Just FYI, we downloaded the latest Boris Continuum Complete 4 filters for the Intel Macs and had to remove them after 2 hours. System got very unstable crashing about 5 times in the first hour and I wasn’t even using the BCC plug-ins yet. Then when I tried to render anything in the timeline, again no BCC filters yet, FCP crashed each time.
I removed the BCC from the Plug Ins folder and now FCP is stable again. Just a note in case you’re looking to upgrade. I was really happy to see them come out as we can use a few of them on this particular project, but at the moment, they’re not stable, at least not on our system.

Call Boris and let them know this. It sounds like the gave you the wrong download. You might have accidentally downloaded the PPC version.

novice question again: I did the same thing — installed BCC4. Based on Walter’s experience, I tried to do the “prudent” thing and removed those filters. As a novice at FCP I don’t need extra challenges (at least not when I’m facing a week of supervised edits).
I am finding the organization of FCP (and Mac files generally) rather difficult to follow, and I’m not sure I uninstalled BCC4 correctly.
I have found a number of video filters in FCP which aren’t in the manual. Where did Light Rays, for example, come from? I don’t recall installing it; is it an extra, or is this evidence that I didn’t uninstall BCC4 correctly?

Nope, it’s the Intel version. The name of the file includes “Intel” in the name.

Anything with BCC in front of it is a Boris Continuum Filter. I just simply went into the Application Support > Final Cut Pro > Plugins and removed all of the BCC plugins to a folder on the desktop.

Sorry to hear all that, and here I am wrestling with upgrading the BCC filters just to work in 5.1.2 on a non-Intel G5. It does not seem right that Boris is so far behind with all this, given the expense of the filters in the first place, but to release v.4 to work in 5.1 with a pretty major install bug seems a crime that costs another $300 to boot! Talk about adding insult to injury!
Hope they get this all straightened out soon.
