Ok. I’ve spent hours today, and I’m now sure there is a bug in Boris working with Sony Vegas 10.c. Is it something else on my computer? who knows.

    here goes.
I was watching the seminar online today that Boris and John R. did . I tried to replicate something that John was doing with Boris, Vegas 10c. Here’s what I can faithfully replicated:

Fire up a new instance of Vegas 10.c
    New timeline nothing on it.
    Create a new Video track.
    Create a new empty event.
choose the FX icon on the event.
    Choose Boris FCC Extruded text.
Do anything, like try and launch the text window.
Bang…Vegas freezes up solid. Over and over again.
uninstall Boris… all seems to work fine.
Download a fresh copy from Boris. Reinstall… Same problem.
Vegas goes into NOT RESPONDING mode.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
    Intel Core Premium i7 870 @ 2.93 Ghz 8GB RAM
    Nvidia Gforce 9500 GT

Alf, I can’t immediately explain that. We use similar systems in our lab. Are you using two monitors? Can you contact our support to see if we can solve this problem.

Ok. I decided to reinstall the NVIDIA software. That did the trick. My best guess is that I had only taken the default W7 NVIDEA drivers when I installed my card on this newer machine, (my HP motherboard fried after only one year in Dec), and had not tried Vegas since then (a few weeks back, and I had FCP to fall back onto). Boris tech support was very good, but we didn’t need to get into the depths of this. So the upshot is if you upgrade your computer but not your video card, make sure to get driver updates for the new machine. All appears well now, testing will continue.
