  • Borders on the sides of images on Vegas. Help!

Posted by Jessica Beasley on September 3, 2009 at 8:31 am

Every time I insert an image into Sony Vegas I get two black borders on the sides. I want all my images to fill the entire preview screen, without borders. I tried googling about this and I’ve tried everything suggested:

Clicking ‘Match Output aspect’ on pan/crop chops the top of the picture off

If I click ‘no’ under maintain (source in Pan/crop) then the image stretches, getting rid of the border, but making it look oddly, um, stretched.

I’ve also tried resizing the images so they are all the same, again, I end up with the stretch effect if I resize them to youtube level.

Is there any other ways of getting rod of those pesky borders, which I may be missing?

    Replies appreciated.

Yes, and this is exactly what you should be doing. If the aspect of your picture doesn’t match the aspect of your video then you need to crop something off to make it fit without borders. As you have seen, stretching looks worse. Your other option is to fill the border with a color or other background. Just place the background on a track below. Those are your only options. (in other words, you can’t fit a square peg in a round hole without cutting off the corners)
