    Hello Guys,

I’m hoping someone out there can help me figure this out. I just imported some footage using a Canon XH A1 via firewire. Settings are as follows:

    Shot in 1080 24f
Captured using Easy Setup HDV 1080p 24 Firewire Basic
Monitoring on a TVLogic monitor via SDI

The footage looks fine in FCP’s viewer but it looks squeezed (length) in the HD Monitor. When selecting a Video Playback selection, all of the “HDV” options are grayed out.

My guess is that it has something to do with HDV coming in at 1440 instead of 1920 and the capture card not being able to convert and output that signal correctly. I can’t get it to size properly no matter which Video Playback selection I choose in FCP. BM doesn’t have an easy set-up for HDV as far as I can tell.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for the help!

    Tim,

Almost all (but not in every case) HD displays to HD monitors as 1080i 8-bit 29.97. Choose that setting in View >> Video Playback and you should be good to go.

    David!

That did the trick. Thank you so much. I don’t think I would have tried the 1080i options for 24p(f) footage.

    Thanks again.

    Tim
