  • Bluray Motion Menu Bitrate

I created a motion menu for a Bluray dic in After Effects and exported to MPEG-2 Bluray. I believe the data rate was set to 30Mbps using the preset. I used the same preset for my 8 minute video.

After burning, the 8 minute video looks great playing around 25 to 30 Mbps, but the Menu video is playing at most 8Mbps. Why would this be? I checked to make sure Encore was not retranscoding on output and it is not (set to Don’t Transcode). Does Encore adjust the Mbps if it is for menu or is this a limitation for a Bluray Menu?

    Thanks for the help,

    hi cody,
you´ll hav high bitrates when your picture will have a lot motion and movements, and lower bitrates when there is less motion and movement.

if you set your encoding VBR the encoder could use these values (peak limit/everage) but it should not use it, if not necessary.

    cheers
