    Hi,
i’ve edited a DVCPROHD1080i50 sequence in FCP 6. Rendered out a self contained MOV and it plays back smoothly with quicktime… Then i’ve created a Blu-ray disc using Encore CS4. I’ve imported the FCP rendered file and let Encore transcode it with MPEG2 1920×1080 CBR 30Mbps… but when i play the disc with my BD player on a HD LCD TV it shows some flickering issues in the lighter areas (and the flicker is much more intense in those clips where i’ve slowed down the speed to 75% or 50%).

Did anybody have this problem? Solved?

In your Video Export settings what is the Field Order set to?

If it is lower change it to upper. If it is upper change it lower.

    thanks for your answer Gary!
i’ll give a try but… at the moment it has upper field setting and since it’s an HD video i thought it was correct… anyway, i’ll try to change it…

Gary, unfortunately exporting with Lower Field gives a worse result 🙁 much more flicker then before.

Does anybody have suggestions to reduce that annoying frying on those lighter areas of my movie?

doesn’t sound like a field order issue.

if footage is slowed down quite a bit its hard to avoid that.

is there a highly detailed pattern (moire) showing? is that what you mean
    by flicker?

you say its 50i? that might be part of the issue right there.

maybe post a video here of a short sample other wise its a guessing game.

    hi Chris,
it’s both a moire issue and a blinking in lighter areas… and,as you say, i also think it’s a problem of slow clips… thankyou anyway…
