    Yes….the first pass is the investigation pass to determine the best bitrate for your source. The second is the actual encode pass.

    unless you have to cram a super long movie
    onto a single layer, I really don’t see a point.

    the only real benefit is to make the file smaller
    and look the same (maintain quality)
