average bit rate scale is from 5 to 15 and maximum bit rate scale is from 6 to 17

If you’re running Compressor 4.0 just use the preset under “Disc Burning.” By default it’s set at 30Mbps with a maximum of 35Mbps (it’s a VBR preset – Variable Bit Rate).

Compressor 4.0 is only $50 on the App Store. It’s easily worth it in my opinion.

No need to upgrade to make Blu-ray encodes. The reason you’re getting low bit rate as an option is probably due to how Compressor thinks you are going to use this file.

Does yours look like this?

If so, take a look again. It is saying AVCHD as the usage. That means it thinks you want to burn Blu-ray content onto a standard DVD. Not what you want? Try changing it to Blu-ray:

Now you get proper Blu-ray encoding parameters.

Mark is right. I should be more specific. You don’t need Compressor 4.0 to encode for Blu-Ray. Compressor 3.5 will do it as well. And he’s laid out the graphics for you to see that.

My point was that Compressor 4.0 has presets for it, is currently being updated and developed by Apple, and is only a $50 purchase. 3.5 is EOL. The differences aren’t drastic GUI-wise, but 4.0 does appear to take better advantage of my multi-core Mac Pro.
