we have a FCP HD and a avid adrenaline, now we are doing a show shot in HD cam(panasonic) all lookgs amazing however we have a few blowup on the video say 2 fields or 10% not really a lot, now the avid looks as if we shot it as a close up, but the FCP HD look all broked up, everything we have done is equal across the board, andyway the blowups in FCP look like crap no matter what the size is. I went smaller than the avid and it looks so bad, any info on why, is it the codecs?

Did you render or are you looking at it in RT?

Whose codecs did you use in FCP? There has been an improvement in the scaling in FCP 5 FWIW.

As Jerry mentioned, Apple improved the scaler in FCP 5. The upgrade to FCP Studio was lowered to $199.
