    Hi,

I know this will seem like a novice question. I usually work within my means, but I see this a lot in animations and I would really like it in a skit I am making.

I would like to use the bloom effect from my background, around the layers infront. Below is my setup, and also a Lee Daniels example.

I was thinking I could try the Andrew Kramer Volumetic light effect, or use luma mattes, but they just don’t seem to work.

    Thanks everyone, Ross

Also any tutorial series suggestions on alphas and lumas would be greatly appreciated I need to seriously make them second nature.

If you look up “light wrap” you will find a bunch of techniques and plugins to achieve this effect.

A good glow effect would make the kind of shot you’ve referenced very easy, too. Here’s one to look at:

    Thank You Walter,

I tried using a set matte earlier, it’s not looking how I pictured, but I think that that is down to the colour contrast of the composition.

    Thanks again ☺
