Mac Pro 2x3Ghz Quad Intel Zeon
    OS X (Tiger) v10.4.11
    FCP 2 suite / FCP v6.0.2
Blackmagic Decklink HD Pro PCIe with most recent drivers
    G-Raid2 1Tb
Cutting mostly SD 8 bit uncompressed material

Have put together a 2nd edit machine with the above components. Everything works fine except the Batch Capture, which is having problems communicating with the Digi deck. I can capture maybe 30 seconds of material but much more than that and I get this error message:

‘Tape trouble. Check VTR. Do not attempt to eject tape or use transport without checking VTR first’

There’s no problem with the transport or the tape. The Digi deck is in daily use with our other FCP machine. All new cables, checked they are seated properly, no obvious problem there.

The clips I have captured successfully are fine. Play OK in FCP and on monitor. Audio good too. Outside FCP the Blackmagic Deck Control utility controls the VTR fine but there are no pictures in the preview windows.

It’s probably a software configuration problem … pretty sure I’m doing something wrong.

    Any ideas? Thanks, Pete

Just caught sight of this thread which deals with this very issue. Sorry to have ‘double parked’ my own experience!

Hope the tech guys get a fix on this quickly. Nowhere does it clearly flag up the problem on the Blackmagic site or I might have made a different decision on the card type. as it is I will try the earlier driver as suggested.

Just in case anyone else is having this problem and stumbles across this post – I cured the problem by uninstalling the most recent drivers (can’t recall the version number) and installed v6.4 as per all the advice here:

(not at the wrong link I put up before!) My machine is happily batch capturing at this very minute. It remains to be seen if any of it is frame accurate…
