Blending Options
Hi, I’m trying to blend a clip of a “starship” filmed on a black background with a picture of a starfield. I use the lighten option for blending, which seems to get the best results, but some of the stars shine through the ship. Is there a better option or can I do something so that the ship can remain a solid but the rest of the clip is starfield?

You will probably need to mask out the starfield so that the ship is not covered by it (which will require an animated mask if your ship is moving). Another option would be to key out the black background on the starship layer and put it above the starfield layer, but I’m sure your ship has black on it which would also key out and ruin the effect. Unfortunately, your options are limited.
