BlackMagic vrs Atomos & Cannon 5Dmkii
I’ve been a bit sorted on which setup is better given my needs… Forgive my novice as I’m a bit new to this space.
Quick background ~ I shoot home tour videos to sell homes. It’s a nightmare to color balance each room / area of the property as it’s quick run and gun shooting. Balancing color in post is almost impossible with the codec in the 5dmii… I’ve done the black magic raw hack but raw it is impractical as I can get 20 -30 sec max capture length.
Black Magic: I like the Black Magic cameras as they will record in Log mode and do full RAW.
Atomos w/ Canon 5dmkii (will likely upgrade to mkiv when it comes out): I’m thinking the sensor in the 5d is a bit better than black magic cameras? It’s 14-bit versus 10-bit if my memory is correct.
Wondering if it’s a wash between 422 Prores Atomos w/ 5d and RAW with Black Magic at the end of the day? I loose ability to shoot log mode with 5d though…
Any thoughts? I love the fact that the Atomos integrates into my existing hardware much better so I don’t have to double down on equipment as well.
